CONNECTION MODULE FOR OFFICE FURNITURE
The invention relates to a connecting module for office furniture.
Office furniture such as computer tables, printer tables, racks, roll containers or hanging registers have different functions, shapes and sizes and are therefore often made up of separate parts that are specially made for each type and model. This means that many different parts must be stored in stock in a storage space, which leads to high storage costs. This problem has already been partially solved in the context of modular cabinet systems with as few basic elements as possible for the construction of different furniture. However, small and light furniture always requires different basic elements than large and heavy furniture, since the basic elements of small furniture often do not offer sufficient stability and loadability to be used in large and heavy furniture with correspondingly high loads. The basic elements for large and heavy furniture are often very heavy themselves and, because of their solid construction, to guarantee adequate stability and load-bearing capacity, they often do not offer the possibility to build smaller furniture from it.
It is therefore the object of the invention to provide a connection module which is stable, resilient and light at the same time, and which can be used with a large number of pieces of furniture independently of their size and resilience.
This object is achieved by the connection module according to the invention, since the connection module offers the possibility of building up a plurality of office furniture with a minimum number of different embodiments of the connection module. For example, simple office furniture can be assembled together with rectangular tubes and shelves by using a single type. Even with complicated office furniture, a maximum of two different connection module types are required. This is primarily made possible by the bundling of different functions and connection options into a single connection module, the connection module having sufficient stability for the construction of differently sized office furniture on the basis of a lattice-like structure and additionally being very light.
The connecting module has a basic structure which on the one hand comprises a base plate which is arranged parallel to and centrally between two parallel sides of wide sides and on the other hand comprises a frame which defines the longitudinal side and which is substantially closed along the longitudinal side. This closed frame offers a high stability, which is further reinforced by the base plate arranged perpendicularly thereto.
Starting from this basic structure, the connection module comprises various functional segments.
Firstly, at least two connection segments are present, which serve for connecting rectangular tubes to the connection module. For further reinforcement, these connection segments have rib-shaped reinforcement elements along a connection direction of the rectangular tubes, which therefore also function as guide elements. To achieve a clamping with the rectangular tubes, these rib-shaped reinforcing elements preferably run slightly obliquely. The height of the connection segment can increase slightly in particular towards the connection segment. Furthermore, the connection segments have a recess for arranging an eccentric connector, so that, for example, a board or cover can be arranged on a longitudinal side of the connection module with the aid of a screw and an eccentric connector.
Secondly, the connection module has a connection segment which serves to connect the two connection segments to each other and to connect to further elements of an office furniture. To make the connection with further elements possible, round-tube-shaped channels are present in the connecting segment, the longitudinal axes of which are perpendicular to the wide sides. For example, screws can be guided through these round tube-shaped channels, which serve for fixing boards or the like. Furthermore, reinforcement struts arranged in a half-like manner are provided for the additional reinforcement between the round tube-shaped channels.
The solution according to the invention can be arbitrarily combined and further improved according to the following further developments, which are in themselves advantageous.
In order to enable the fitting of furniture wheels, a further round tube-shaped channel can be present, the axis of which lies parallel to the broad sides of the connecting module. The retaining segment of furniture wheels can be introduced into this round tube-shaped channel. The alignment of the round tube-shaped channel along the longitudinal sides thereby offers the highest stability and bearing capacity. In order to fit a plurality of furniture wheels or to be able to fit different sizes of furniture wheels, a plurality of these round tubular channels can also be present, in particular also with different diameters.
The connecting module can comprise a substantially flat cover, which is designed to be attachable by means of pin-shaped retaining elements in the round tubular channels of the connecting segment. On the one hand, this can be arranged for aesthetic reasons, and on the other hand, the cover can prevent contact with any screws fitted, which prevents injuries and damage.
This cover can additionally have holes in order to reach, with the aid of a suitable tool, the screws arranged in the connecting segment with the cover provided. Furthermore, such holes may be necessary to provide further elements to the connection module.
The connection module can be particularly inexpensive if it is made of plastic. In addition to the low material costs, this also makes simple manufacturing possible, for example with the aid of an injection molding method. To ensure an attractive appearance, the plastic can be further treated, for example, it can be surface treated or coated.
To achieve a higher stability and / or to guarantee a high-quality optic, the connection module can be made of other materials. For example, a connection module can be made of aluminum. Aluminum is a particularly light material and moreover offers an attractive optic, which can optionally be changed by various methods, such as for example by coating. Depending on the desired stability and optics, any other materials can also be used. In particular, combinations of materials can also be utilized in one connection module.
In a special embodiment, exactly three connection segments are present on the connection module. Therefore, three rectangular tubes can be provided. In another embodiment, exactly two connection segments are present. Such a connection module can be used, for example, as an angle connector. Nevertheless, variants with four or more connection segments are also possible.
It is particularly advantageous if the connection module is T-shaped or L-shaped, the legs being formed by the connection segments. In a T-shaped embodiment, for example, the two opposite connecting segments can be arranged in a height direction and the connecting segment arranged perpendicularly thereto can enable a horizontal connection, for example, a rack bottom can be attached to a rack rear wall. In the L-shaped embodiment, for example, a connection segment can be arranged vertically and the second connection segment can be arranged horizontally.
It is particularly advantageous if at least two connection segments are arranged perpendicular to each other. This means, for example, that a rectangular office furniture with only one single type of connecting element can be built.
In order to enable the best possible force closure between two connection segments and thus to ensure a high stability, in a further development the connecting segment is rounded in the shape of a longitudinal axis between two connection segments. In addition to the increased stability, an arc-shaped rounding offers the advantage that it is shorter and therefore more material-saving than a one-cornered version. In particular when the angle between the connection segments is smaller than 180 °, this embodiment is advantageous. A direct, linear connection between the two connection segments is also possible.
The connecting segment along a longitudinal side may have an angle between two connecting segments. Such an angle, for example a rectangular angle, offers the advantage that the connecting element can be seamlessly connected to or connected to further rectangular elements. Furthermore, such an angle offers a larger bearing surface and an increased stability in the event that the connecting module is used as a support element, for example, as a bottom element.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment, at least three of the round tube-shaped channels in the connecting segment border on a longitudinal side. These round tubular channels adjacent to the longitudinal side can, for example, serve for connection to further elements of the office furniture, for example a shelf or a plate. The arrangement on the longitudinal side ensures that even thinner planks or plates can be fitted in such a way that they close in one plane with the longitudinal side. The fact that at least three of these round tube-shaped channels are present makes it further possible for both wide and narrow connecting elements to be arranged in a plurality of positions. Advantageously, one of the round tube-shaped channels is thereby located at a corner of the connecting segment, so that it can be utilized on two longitudinal sides.
Furthermore, it is advantageous if at least three of the round tube-shaped channels in the connecting segment have approximately the same distance to a longitudinal side. This uniform distance entails further standardization with regard to the arrangement of further elements of the office furniture from the side which is to close in one plane with a longitudinal side. Due to the uniform distance, it is also possible to mount such further elements at different positions along the longitudinal side.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the connection module, four round tube-shaped channels are arranged at the corners of a rectangle, in particular a square. This makes mounting on further rectangular elements of the office furniture possible. In particular for the case that the round-tube-shaped channels are arranged at the corners of a square, it is made possible that a further element of the furniture with square-arranged connecting elements can be arranged in four different positions, since a rotation of the further element at 90 ° again leads to a possible mounting position.
In a special embodiment, the connection segments are adapted to the inside dimensions of a 40 mm x 20 mm rectangular tube. The load-bearing capacity and stability of a rectangular tube with these dimensions and a connection module designed for this purpose lie in an area that is considered suitable for office furniture.
Office furniture can thus be manufactured in a simple manner with the aid of the connection modules according to the invention and only a few further elements such as rectangular tubes and plates. For example, a single type of connection module, a rectangular connection module with an additional round tube-shaped channel for fitting furniture wheels, is necessary, for example, to build up a rectangular side table. In addition to the eight uniform connection modules, only rectangular tubes of a single type and plates of the desired size are required for this, which keeps costs low and greatly simplifies assembly.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to advantageous embodiments with reference to the drawings. The described embodiments only represent possible embodiments, but the individual features, as described above, can be combined or omitted independently of each other. In the various drawings, the same reference numbers stand for identical objects.

Figure 1 shows a connection module 1 according to the invention for office furniture schematically in a top view. The basic structure of the connection module 1 comprises a base plate 2 as well as a frame 3. The base plate 2 lies parallel to and centrally between two parallel sides of wide sides and therefore simultaneously parallel to the drawing surface. The frame 3 defines the longitudinal sides 5 and is substantially closed along this. The longitudinal sides 5 and the frame 3 in this example are perpendicular to the broad sides and therefore also to the base plate 2. The frame 3 is connected to the base plate 2, in this example the frame 3 and the base plate 2 are made of made in one piece. For example, the base plate 2 and the frame 3 can be molded in one piece from a plastic or polymer. In particular, all further functional elements together with the frame 3 and the base plate 2 can also be made in one piece.
The connection module 1 shown comprises three function segments, two connection segments 6 and a connection segment 7. The connection segments 6 serve for connection to rectangular pipes, that is, they are arranged in the inner contour of a rectangular pipe, for example by sliding in or pressing. Due to the external dimensions, they are adapted to the internal contours of a rectangular tube, for example rectangular tubes with the outer dimensions 40 mm by 20 mm can be used for this purpose. In order to further reinforce the structure in this area and to provide guide surfaces for insertion into the rectangular tube, rib-shaped reinforcing elements 8 are provided on the connecting segments 6 which extend along the connecting direction 9 of a rectangular tube over the total length of the connecting segment 6 .
Two outer rib-shaped reinforcing elements 8a simultaneously represent a part of the frame 3. The rib-shaped reinforcement elements 8 preferably run slightly obliquely in the connection direction 9. The connection segment 6 can in particular be slightly wedge-shaped, its thickness increasing along the connection direction 9 towards the connection segment 7. A sufficient clamping force is hereby achieved between the connecting segment 6 and the connected rectangular tube. Due to the slightly wedge-shaped design, this force only occurs towards the end, so a rectangular tube can simply be slid onto the connection segment 6 and only has to be pressed by force in the vicinity of the intended end position on the connection segment 6.
Furthermore, there is a recess 10 for an eccentric connector (not shown) in the connection segment 6. A screw can be guided through a hole 10a to the longitudinal side 5 in the eccentric connector and by turning the eccentric connector the screw can be pulled in its longitudinal direction, so that, for example, a further element mounted on the screw is pulled from the office furniture to the connecting module 1.
The connecting segment 7 has round tube-shaped channels 11, between which there are lattice-like reinforcement struts 12. Further lattice-like reinforcement elements 12 connect the holes with the frame 3 and with a wall 13 between the connecting segment 7 and the connecting segment 6, which further reinforces the structure of the connecting module 1. The round-tube-shaped channels 11 in this example have a circular cylindrical inner contour, which is formed by a cylinder ring. For example, screws or dowels can be inserted into these round tube-shaped channels 11 from both wide sides, in order to provide further elements of the office furniture on the opposite wide side 4. For example, a board or a plate can be provided on the round tube-shaped channels 11a. For further standardization, all round tube-shaped channels 11a have the same distance to a longitudinal side 5, so that the board or plate can be arranged in different positions and is in all positions in one plane with a longitudinal side. It is particularly advantageous if some of the round-tube-shaped channels 11 border on a longitudinal side 5, since in this case also very narrow planks or plates can be connected to the connection module 1.
In this example, the round tube-shaped channels 11b are arranged at the corners of a square. This facilitates the assembly of a square element, for example of a support with a square cross-section, since such an element can be mounted in four different rotational positions.
Furthermore, the connection module 1 shown here comprises an additional round tube-shaped channel 14, the axis of which lies parallel to the broad sides of the connection module 1. This additional round tube-shaped channel 14 serves to receive a holding segment of a furniture wheel, so that a desk furniture comprising a connecting module 1 according to the invention can be moved easily. The size of the additional round tube-shaped channel 14 can be adapted to different large retaining segments of different furniture wheels. In particular, it is also possible to have several, differently large additional round tube-shaped channels 14.
The connection module 1 shown here has an L-shape, that is, the two connection segments 6 are perpendicular to each other. For the case that three connecting segments 6 are present, a T-shape is advantageous. The in each case rectangular arrangement of the connection segments 6 in the two embodiments has the advantage that a minimum number of different connection modules is sufficient. For example, only a single type may be necessary to form all eight corners of a block.
The inner longitudinal side of the connecting segment 7 lying above right is an arc-shaped longitudinal side 15, which increases the stability of the connecting module 1 compared to a rectangularly formed inner longitudinal side.
The left and below outer longitudinal side 16, in contrast, has an angle 17. The two segments 16a and 16b of the outer longitudinal side 16 here are rectangular with respect to each other, so that they offer as large a bearing surface as possible and are nevertheless arranged on further elements without any problem. could be.
Figure 2 shows the connection module 1 shown in Figure 1 in a perspective view.
The round tube-shaped channels 11 in the connecting segment 7 have a funnel-shaped end 18, which makes it easier to insert screws and, for example, screws with a conical head can be reliably fitted.
A retaining segment of a furniture wheel can be provided through the longitudinal hole of the additional round tube-shaped channel 14 in the connecting segment 7.
An eccentric connector can be arranged in the recess 11, which eccentric can be joined to the eccentric connector by means of a screw which is guided through the hole 10a. In a next step, the eccentric connector can be rotated, so that the screw is pulled in the direction of the eccentric connector and, therefore, an element arranged on the screw, for example a plate, is pressed against the connecting module.
Figure 3 shows a substantially flat cover 19, which can be put on the connecting module 1 by means of the pin-shaped holding elements 20 and a further holding element 21. The mounting takes place on the wide sides of the connection module 1. The symmetrical design of the cover 19 ensures that a single type of cover can be fitted on both wide sides.
The position and size of the pin-shaped retaining elements 20 can be adapted to the position of the round-tube-shaped channels 11 of the connection module 1. In particular, the cover 19 can additionally comprise holes, for example for the round-tube-shaped channels 11 in the connecting segment 7. The cover 19 shown in Figure 3 represents a basic version 19a without further holes.
Figure 4 shows two further embodiments of such a cover 19. A first version 19b of the cover 19 is shown above, which additionally comprises a hole 25 through which one of the round tube-shaped channels 11 in the connecting segment 7 can be reached. A second version 19c of a cover 19 is shown below. This second version 19c has two holes 25, which in each case allow access to a round tube-shaped channel 11. Further versions of a cover with holes or recesses at other points in any number are also conceivable.
Figure 5 shows the connection module 1 together with two covers 19 in perspective. One cover 19 has already been attached to the connection module 1, the second is still unassembled. Two pin-shaped retaining elements 20 are inserted into round tube-shaped channels 11 for mounting. Furthermore, a further retaining element 21, which in the mounted state is arranged in a region between a round tube-shaped channel 11 and a longitudinal side 5, serves for the more stable mounting of the cover 19 on the connection module 1.
The substantially flat outer surface 19 'of the cover 19 offers the possibility of providing further elements, for example further connecting modules 1, to the connecting module 1 with as large a bearing surface as possible. Furthermore, the cover 19 ensures that the inner structure of the connection module 1 is not accessible, so that injuries and damage can be prevented.
The outer contour of the cover 19 can be adapted to the shape of the connection segment 7. Furthermore, the appearance and material of the cover 19 can be adapted to the connection module 1 or to the office furniture to be manufactured.
Figure 6 schematically shows a side view of an office furniture, which comprises connecting modules 1 according to the invention. In addition to the connecting modules 1, only rectangular tubes 22 can be seen, which are slid onto the connecting modules 1 and therefore form a side element 24, 24a of the office furniture and two furniture wheels 23, which are inserted into the lower connecting modules 1 and enable the office furniture can be rolled. In particular, all four connection modules 1 can be of the same type, for example of the type already shown in Figures 1 and 2. The two upper connection modules 1 then also have an additional tubular channel 14 into which a furniture wheel 23 could be introduced. However, this additional round tube-shaped channel 14 is unused. It could, for example, be covered by a further cover.
To the frame-shaped side element 24 of an office furniture thus created, for example, a plate could additionally be provided to blind the side element 24. Together with a further side element 24 and further elements such as, for example, beams or plates, the side element 24 can be expanded, for example, into a roll container.
In Figure 7 different side elements 24 of office furniture are shown, which can be built with the aid of connecting modules 1 according to the invention. To the left is the rectangular side element 24a already shown in Figure 5. Further side elements 24b and 24c are shown in the center and right. For the construction of such side elements 24b, 24c, it is necessary that, in addition to the L-shaped connecting modules 1, further T-shaped connecting modules 1b are utilized. For example, the right-hand side element 24c is made up of L-shaped connection modules 1a at the corners and T-shaped connection modules 1b at the intersections. The lower L-shaped connecting modules 1a have an additional round tube-shaped channel 14, into which furniture wheels 23 can be inserted. The upper L-shaped connecting modules 1a may also be of this type for the sake of simplicity, however, it is also possible to use an additional type that does not comprise this additional round tube-shaped channel 14. The side elements 24 shown can be used, for example, for the construction of racks.
